We are so lucky to have a friend like Mario to set up fun outings like this for us. On Friday afternoon we took the train down to Offenburg and met up with Mario.
Mario took us for a quick tour of the countryside around his village. It was breathtaking, but unfortunately I didn't get a good picture.
Let the tasting begin! Mario's friends graciously hosted the event. We tried three whites and three red wines and enjoyed a variety of cheeses.

Mario's friend had a neat little kit with small vials of scent. We took turns guessing. It was HARD! But interesting. It helped to pick out the individual aromas in the wine.

Check out the view from Mario's living room! Woah!
After a lovely breakfast and quick drive around the area again, Toby and I had an ice cream and played some cards before heading back to Karlsruhe on the train.
What a great weekend!
