Friday July 11 - Sunday July 14, 2008
Toby's parents graciously flew us out to Ontario for Toby's Grandma, Joyce's, 80th birthday celebration. We flew into Toronto on Friday and by the time we got to Clifford it was time for bed.
On Saturday we were all up bright and early to help with the party prep. Kye was asked to contribute his professional skills as painter to paint some new doors, an early birthday gift. Toby discovered a new talent in cutting watermelon baskets! Sue and I washed, cut and pinned fruit to foam cones to create lovely fruit trees for the afternoon come-and-go-tea.

Just an hour before the party the sky opened up and it poured sheets of rain. Luckily the party was held just across the street from Joyce's house and the rain stopped before the party began.
Here is Sue and the birthday girl at the party.
Kye, along with Toby and Chris hiding out in front of the church so they didn't have to visit!
Sue and Joyce and Sue's brothers.
The birthday girl looking radiant at her birthday dinner with some close friends and family.
On Sunday we spent our time visiting with Toby's Dad's side of the family. Here are the canine members of the family: Andy (left) and new puppy Buster who Sue purchased from a Menonite boy only two days before.
Buster was a hit at the party. Being that cute is tiring.
Toby's great-uncle Grant and Grandpa Wally.
The older generation cousins and their spouses.
Unfortunately on Monday we only had time for a quick breakfast before it was back to Toronto to fly home. It was a busy but fun trip and it was great to see so many relatives!

Those fruit trees are amazing, Buster is possibly the cutest thing on earth...maybe a close second to Grandpa Wally in his blue jumpsuit.
How is the reverse culture shock going?
