The invasion has begun! Here they come with their suitcases laden with goodies from Canada.

Laura with the suitcases on the train. Luckily I couldn't wait for them to get to Karlsruhe so I met them at the airport in Frankfurt. The suitcase to person ratio then dropped from three per person to two per person.... much more manageable when making train connections.

Here we are taking in the Christmas cheer at the Weinachtsmarkt. Bratwurst and Schupfnudeln with Saurkraut. Mmmmmm.... We also had some Glühwein (spiced, mulled wine, literally "glow wine") and got to keep the special mugs that they serve it in. The also had "kinder" Glühwein so everyone could partake.

The market was very busy and crowded. Might have to go back for a second look at the stands. What we saw was decorations, toys, candles, jewelry and lots of yummy food. The Glühwein helped warm us up because it was sooooo c-c-c-c-old! (OK, it was only -1 degree C but it felt so much colder!)
We walked through the mall to warm up and admire the decorations.

Everyone seemed to sleep really well after their very long day. We started the day off with a decadent German style breakfast.

Then we went for a walk around the Schloss and into the Schloss museum where we learned a bit about the history of Baden.

We climbed up the tower

to get some nice views of the Schlosspark

and the city.

Goofing off. Love it.

My beautiful mum.

The sun sets so early.

Hamming it up.

The family all together again in Germany.

Chocolate covered fruit. Mmmmm...

Glühwein in cute boot mugs.

A place at the Christmas market where kids can make their own cookies.

Dinner at Wolfbraü. Schnitzel, Käse Spätzle, Flammkuchen, Pizza and a pork cutlet. Yum yum.
