Salzburg and bye for now.

Saturday May 3, 2008

On our way home from Vienna we chose to take the southern route through Salzburg.  Here Toby and Chris are standing in front of the steps made famous in "The Sound of Music".  Doe, a deer, a female deer...

The castle.  Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to go up for a visit.

The Mirabell Palace and gardens.

We strolled down the touristy and picturesque streets with window displays filled with Mozart chocolates.  We found a small market and then tucked into lunch in this blissfully quiet little courtyard.

Mozart's birthplace!

Because we had so much driving to do, we were only able to make a brief visit to Salzburg.  But something's better than nothing, isn't it?

As we continued driving we passed giant lake Chimsee.

And finally we arrived home to Karlsruhe!

We enjoyed a quiet dinner at home and cracked open our Jost wine from Bacharach.

One more nice dinner together before Chris and Sue fly off to Paris!

Safe travels!  Enjoy Paris!  See you at home soon.
