Julian locking up the apartment. 8:30 AM, not a bad start time for us. Check out his flashy new sneakers!
A beautiful rest stop in Delaware with healthy food and natural light we had a nice break. Unfortunately when we looked at our watches after our break an hour had gone by! So much for making good time.
Crossing the Delaware river. Lots of tolls on these highways and bridges. It cost at least $30 in tolls to get to NY.
Our first glimpse of NY. Getting excited!! We were nervous about driving in Manhattan but luckily arriving before 2:00 there wasn't a lot of rush hour traffic and we didn't have far to go once we got through the Lincoln Tunnel. Toby did a great job navigating the one-way streets, honking cabs and pedestrians.
We arrived at the hotel after 2:00 so we figured it took us about 6 hours. The hotel was in Midtown, Manhattan close to Central Park and Rockefeller Centre. Since I was attending an Omega Institute event (more on that later) we got a special rate of "only" $300 per night! Ouch. But in a way it was worth it. The hotel was nice & comfortable. They gave us a big room because of the crib and a fridge, which helped because Julian drinks so much milk! Here Julian and Toby are checking out the view from our hotel room! They can see part of times square... and of course, all those taxis!
First stop - Central Park. It was a lovely warm and breezy day. Perfect for a stroll in the park.
Giant bubbles!
Watching the ducks.
This video gets cut of because I realized I had left the stroller (with my purse)
completely unattended -- in NY CITY!!!
Wave to dada
On our way to the Rockefeller Centre to go up to the observation deck!!
We couldn't believe the skating rink was still in operation!
Top of the Rock! The views took my breath away.
Looking north - central park
Looking South - Empire State Building
Statue of Liberty
Toby was getting the settings right on the camera and took this stunning photo of some people we don't know.
I wish I could somehow send it to them.
Wow! What a first day. It was a perfect introduction to NY City.
